چکیده

A microbial fermentation system was designed to convert glucose to 4-hydroxyphenyllactic acid (DHPA), which is an aromaticcontaining derivative of lactic acid. By methylation, DHPA was transformed to a diol monomer for synthesis of bio-based polyesters with benzene rings in their backbone. The polycondensation of the DHPA diol was performed with a series of aliphatic diacid chlorides to produce semi-aromatic polyesters with glass-transition temperatures o45 °C. By polycondensation with aromatic diacylchlorides, such as terephthaloyl chloride and isophthaloyl chloride, thermally stable DHPA-based polyesters with glass-transition temperatures as high as 130 °C were obtained. Kinetics of ethylene polymerization over titanium-magnesium catalysts: The reasons for the observed second order of polymerization rate with respect to ethylene

The data on the effect of ethylene concentration on polymerization rate for several modifications of modern highly active titanium–magnesium catalysts TiCl4/MgCl2 are presented. These catalysts differ in titanium content and conditions of support preparation, activities, and the shape of kinetic curves. It is found that the observed order of polymerization rate with respect to ethylene in the r...

Polymerization of propylene in a minireactor: Effect of polymerization conditions on particle morphology

Gas phase polymerization of propylene was carried out in a semi-batch minireactor using a commercially supported Ziegler–Natta (ZN) catalyst. The influence of variables including monomer partial pressure, external electron donor, reaction temperature and time on the particle morphology and size distribution was investigated. Generally, more uniform fragmentation and particle densities were obta...

Anionic Vinyl Polymerization

The concept of anionic polymerization was first developed by Ziegler and Schlenk in early 1910. Their pioneering work on the polymerization of diene initiated with sodium metal set the stage for the use of alkali metal containing aromatic hydrocarbon complexes as initiators for various α-olefins. In 1939, Scott and coworkers used for the first time the alkali metal complexes of aromatic hydroca...
